I am looking for recommendations/suggestions for an ortho surgeon (MAKO) in the Cincinnati area.  Thanks in advance!

Hi Sassenach,

I can't help with a physician recommendation, but suggest as you start your search to first ask if the doctor performs hip resurfacing on women.

Sassenach reminds me of "The Outlander" series.

Good Luck,
Deb

Hi Sassenach, if you are looking to have a hip resurfaced then you should seek out a good resurfacing surgeon. MAKOplasty is only used for total hip replacement.

You may have to travel to have the surgery done. I choose my Dr. (Dr. Gross) based on his reputation and the amount of surgeries he had performed. All of the HR surgeons deal with out of town patients all the time due to limited doctors performing this procedure. I can't say enough about Dr. Gross, and he has a system for out of towners that make it fairly simple. I drove from Florida to South Carolina and had out-patient surgery. Very happy, pain free, and living a very active life just 7 months post op. Good luck!!

If you are looking for resurfacing, Dr. Brooks at the Cleveland Clinic has done 2,500 and is not too far from Cincinnati. I don't know if he does MAKO.
