Title: A little Scared

I had my first BHR 5yrs ago getting ready for my second.Thing that scares me is i know a person who had there second one done and it failed.I know it can happen and trying to think positive.Surgery 11/20

Are you going to an experienced surgeon that you trust? If you read around here you can see that it is a highly successful surgery if done by a skilled and experienced surgeon.

JD asks a good Q. You can't control every variable, but you can find the best doctor possible.


You have five good years. Same guy doing number two?

If he did a good job the first time, and generally has the experience and good results data to back that up from his other patients, I don't think you have much to worry about.

The vast, vast majority of failures are due to surgeon inexperience and error. This is a technically difficult surgery, and results aren't good before surgeons get at least several hundred surgeries done.

There's nothing inherently riskier about getting your second hip done vs your first either.
