I am 14 months out of my bhr. I have pain when in a deadlift position in the groin and also there is a catching and pain with internal rotation.
I also hear crepitus in the joint when I am bending over or bring my knees to my chest. I don't really understand why I hear this/feel this as the bones are no longer making contact do to the bhr device. Unless the device is making contact with something else?
Anyone have any insight?
Hey ,
I have the same problems. I’m 9 months post op . Up until 6 months everything was great . Now for me anything such as jumping to burpee or do toes to bar , even doing sit ups , hurts . Something catches and is extremely painful. I’m in the process of getting cortesoid injections in the psoas and throcanter to see if this helps . If not maybe surgery to the tendons . I’m unsure as to why or how often this happens to hip resurfacing patients.
It’s hard to find out the right info . As phsyio says one thing , surgeon says another . I’ll keep you posted . Hope we both get it soughted out ASAP .
Coby,
Do you remember any particular movement/exercise that might have caused this or did it just start one day to the next?
Thanks,
Larry
Hey ,
I don’t know . I started surfing a lot more , so jumping to my feet . Prior to 6 months , I could do this easily with no pain. I just got ultra sound done . Shows a lot of fluid on Trochanteric bursa but I don’t have pain there it just inside groin area . So probably try psoas injection. If this works for maybe a day . At least I’ll know it’s the psoas and maybe key hole surgery to fix it . The Saga continues. I get injection Friday . So see what that brings . I have a feeling it is the psoas , and doing movements like burpees , toes to bar , box jumps causes it to move over the top of the prosthesis causing it to flare up . And I would say more surgery is needed . Time will tell.

:) Check alignments first would be the option... crepitusis normal in this type of joint. they do squeak grind as they are Metal on Metal. But remember they are designed for a small amount of fluid in between. Give your joint time. My right side is 3 years and seems to be good now the left is still going through rehabilitation of this as well. It is getting there. Not sure about catching pain see your specialist. 8)
Thanks for chiming in everyone.
As for me, once I had the removal restrictions, I noticed the issues. I wasn't moving much to notice it before then. I get lots of clunking, basically if I shake my leg I can feel it.
I had x-rays, sent it to my surgeon (as I am not on the same side of the world as him) and he said it looks perfect.
I suppose next would be metal ion test.
btw, internal rotation is where I get most of the issues with pain, how about you Coby?
