Title: Revision of BHR done 1/14/2019
Post by: pamela1130 on February 09, 2019, 10:44:12 AM
Hi all:

I had a BHR revision done to a THR on January 14th.  After having pain and heaviness in my leg and not being able to put on my shoes and socks without a struggle I opted for a THR revision.  I did well with the BHR but expected more from it.   I also did not like the idea of having metal on metal after I learned more about it.  The surgery went smoothly and no problem removing the component as there were special instruments to deal with the cemented head.  The recovery time is much harder and longer than the BHR so I am glad that I  went for that first.  I have not been able to graduate to the cane yet and having pain in the buttocks which I take alleve for.  I also have a length leg problem where my operated leg is longer so will need to see what the doctor says.  Going to the doctor on Feb. 14th so anxious to see how I am progressing.  I have no weight bearing restrictions as the bone was in excellent shape.  I had read the the BHR had been recalled but my doctor said, not all of them and that mine had not.   I look forward to be able to live an active pain free life.
