Title: It's been 10 years now
Post by: jwtoto on October 21, 2019, 11:48:41 PM
Hello fellow hip surfacing brothers and sisters. I just wanted to check in with my story after a decade with my resurfaced hip. After a failed arthroscopic hip procedure in 2008 left me side lined from sports and limping around I finally found Dr. Edwin P. Su by way of our dear departed Vicky Marlow. He put in a BHR in my right hip in 2010 and I have been fine since. Annual blood testing and xrays looked good every year. Last blood results were: Cobalt 1.2 micorgrams/L  Chromium 2.0 micrograms/L. I am now 70 years old and still surfing several times each week. I've been surfing since I was 9 years old. I would do the hip resurfacing again without hesitation. My left hip has some arthritis but it doesn't bother me now but if it ever does I know exactly what I will do.

Congrats on 10 years!  I recently passed 11 years on the left BHR and scheduled right BHR with Dr Su on 11/1/19.  In the last year arthritis progressed to bone on bone, severe arthritis.  I'm 66 and pleased to qualify for a second hip resurfacing.
