Hello,
So I am a woman with Stage 2 (possibly 3) AVN. I was informed that I would I need bilateral THR. I am adamant about trying to get hip resurfacing instead of a THR due to the fact that I am 41 and wish to continue practicing my martial arts and other athletic activities. Because I am a female with AVN, I was told I am a poor candidate for hip resurfacing. Does anyone have any experience/advice for my particular situation?
Thank You!
Stacy
I wish I did. I'm a female who had hip dysplasia, and I know very little about AVN. However, most orthopedists who don't perform resurfacings will say they are awful, especially for women. Also, not many surgeons do resurfacings on women. Don't let that deter you. Dr. Pritchett and Dr. Gross bother perform resurfacings on women. Dr. Pritchett was my surgeon, and my results have been excellent. Other women here have used Dr. Gross and been just as satisfied as I am. I would send my films, etc. to both for consults. They are the experts in determining your personal suitability for HR.
