Title: How to stop crutches rubbing me raw
Post by: MattFL on October 02, 2024, 08:09:35 AM
I'm 2 weeks post-op and walking a couple miles a day.  Dr. instructions are not more than 75% weight for the first 6 weeks, so I have to use crutches for 6 weeks.  They're rubbing me raw on my ribs, where the part that goes in your arm pits rubs on my side while I'm walking.  Does anyone have ideas on how to stop this rubbing, other than taping gauze to my sides as a rash guard?

I used elbow crutches.  So much easier.  Dr. Smet in Belgium uses them.  I still have mine from 2006.  LOL   Here is a sample.  https://www.amazon.com/elbow-crutches/s?k=elbow+crutches (https://www.amazon.com/elbow-crutches/s?k=elbow+crutches)      Then it is easier to use one as a crutch as you get better.  I wish you the best.  Pat    (https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71IRTLZ8NpL._AC_UL320_.jpg)

I used those as well.  Much better than blistering your armpits!   :)
