Title: Resurfacing 2010. Femoral Neck Stress Reaction 2025. Facing revision to THR?
Post by: jamiecortlandt on March 06, 2025, 03:38:49 PM
Hello, everyone.  I am writing here for the first time, wondering if anyone can relate to my situation or has experienced something similar.  My resurfacing (Dr. Su) was 15 years ago, at age 50, having been born with acetabular dysplasia and at that point at end stage arthritis and no cartilage.   Dr. Su is still my surgeon today, and an MRI has revealed a femoral neck stress reaction.  I have been experiencing extraordinary pain the past two years in the hip flexor.  It's very difficult to determine if this pain is caused by the femoral neck reaction, or by strain/injury to the soft tissues of the hip flexor.  Given my history, after 15 years and at age 65, I am inclined toward a revision to THR, but, I do not want to do such a thing prematurely.  Having hip pain for the past two years, I have started to feel it's natural to always be in pain, but of course, no - it is not natural nor is it necessary.
If any of this is relatable or sparks a thought, I would welcome it, and thank you!
