Title: Larry Schmidt finishes Ironman 5 months post op
Post by: Pat Walter on September 22, 2008, 10:39:00 AM
I thought everyone might enjoy reading Larry Schmidt's story.  He finished an Ironman at 5 months post op from his hip resurfacing surgery on Sept. 7, 2008 and he was 55 years old.

I never post stories like this to make anyone feel bad or like they are recovering slowly.

I post them because they are remarkable and show what the human body and spirit are capable of.

We still all recover at our own rate. We should not let either the fast recoveries or slow recoveries upset us. We are each unique.

In the end - we all arrive in the same place - active and without pain.  The path we use and the time it takes may vary, but the HAPPY ENDING is the same!   ;D

That is one really incredible story.... I am amazed that I can walk steps @ 6 weeks post op and look at what that guy did in 5 months.

Ohhhh well 4 1/2 months before my next Iron Man event.
