Well I went to see the surgeon today. I was very impressed with him. We didn't schedule HR yet because I am going to have a MRI done on my hip. He wants a MRI because I have has mutiple hip surgeries in the past with pins in my hips and because the HR has a pin also he wants to make sure my old pin tracks will not cause the new hardware to not be stable. My old pins were very thick and 4.5 inches long. So if this one is not as thick then it wouldn't be stable. He said he would rather know for sure that it will be ok to do this procedure and not just assume that it will work and get me on the table start the surgery and end up with a THR.
Hi Cindy
Glad to hear your surgeon is being very cautious. Better to be sure than sorry. If for some reason the pins tracks would prevent a hip resurfacing, you will still be out of pain and be able to be very active with a MOM THR. We all prefer resurfacing since it is bone conserving, but the goal is to be out of pain and back to an active life.
We will keep our fingers crossed that you can get your resurfacing. If not, we still welcome your posts and will give you support.
