3 year checkup w/Dr. Gross
« on: August 28, 2011, 01:15:20 PM »
I just wanted to update my fellow hippies on my 3 year checkup with Dr. Gross. I was escorted into the office by Nancy who was smiling and upbeat as usual. My wife stayed at the hotel and Nancy asked about her. After the x-rays I answered the survey on the computer that Gross hippies know all about. Lee came in a few minutes later and examined my range of motion and told me if she did not know the operated hip she could not tell because they were the same. I met Dr. Gross and told him he looked different because he has grown a beard and we then discussed some things he wants me to do unrelated to my surgery. I was told I did not have to come back for 2 years because everything was fine.

I think I speak for all of Dr. Gross's patients in that I feel I am part of a cult with Dr. Gross as our leader. He truly is a gifted doctor who enjoys giving people their lives back. I have mentioned before that my wife is a nurse and has met and worked with many doctors during her career. She said that when she went to my first appointment that he was different from any doctor she had ever had contact with. Being a nurse she asked questions that most of us layman would not know about and he answered every question without hesitation. Sitting in the exam room that day I told Lee and Dr. Gross to schedule me as quickly as possible as I felt I did not need to look any further. Here we are 3 years later and and I am thankful every day that I found Dr. Gross because of Pat and this site.

For all of those that came before me thank you for all your help. For those to come after you will not be dissapointed. Enjoy the ride to a pain free hip.

Thanks for checking back in.  I appreciate all of you trailblazers.  And it is nice to hear the success stories.

I think the successful ones tend to disappear off this site and ones that have issues come back.  So the posts are a skewed sample that can lead someone to believe that hip resurfacing is not as successful as it is.

Take care and enjoy hippy life.

You're right Wayne.  I really meant that there is a great portion of the successful ones that move on compared to people who might have issues.

I intend on keeping involved because there needs to be a voice to offset all the negative stories and opinions that circulate.

Thanks for sticking around.

I join Dan in thanking the successful hippies for staying around - it is great to hear about the long term successes of resurfacing!

I do not post much as you can tell by my count but I try to ease the minds of people who are torn about having the surgery. All of us have had the same concerns before the surgery and the same feeling of pain free relief after the surgery. I feel like it is our responsibility to help Pat in any way we can. If she had not started this site, many of us would not have known about HR and would have probably had a THR.

Since I'll become a hippy on Jan. 11th, 2012 with Dr. Gross, I love to hear any and all resounding endorsements of him.  Keep them coming.....

bigblue,

Dr. Gross growing a beard!? It must be a cult! LOL! I can't wait to see him and Nancy and Lee next spring for my one year visit. There has never been another doc that I felt that way about. (Especially not my urologist  :( ).  Thanks for the 3 year update.  :)
