Pool and Hot Tub
« on: March 14, 2012, 02:53:38 PM »
I'm in my 7th week of recovery. We are going to the casino/hotel for over night this coming Saturday. I was wondering if anyone was swimming or using a hot tub around this time.

It will be 8 weeks on Monday. I have not seen my doctor since my 2 weeks appointment and at that time I was not even worried about swimming or using a hot tub so I did not ask.

thanks,
Zeke

My first hip I was told 24 hours after the staples came out and on the second (by a different doctor) 4-5 weeks after surgery.

I've been in the pool three times a week since I saw Dr Marwin at three weeks.  His office is right near Hofstra University where I swim.  When I asked, he said; yes, get over there and get to work!

At your length of recovery, swimming and hot tub are fine.  Only restrictions usually had to do with the healing progress of the incision...no open sore, no problem.   Enjoy it.

I started in the pool at 5 weeks. I swim about 20 minutes at a time, using rapid flutter kicks, focusing on a stable core and good movement at the hips. It's hard work, but in two weeks I've noticed rapid improvement in my flexibility and general comfort on my operative side. I cool down and then follow that up with about 10 minutes in the hot tub and steam room... get to it!

sounds great thanks :) I'm going to try the pool and the hot tub while I'm there since I don't have access to either one at home.
