I just tried to eat as healthy as possible post op. I did eat lots of calcium and supplemented it as well. I also supplemented with colostrum GABA and a few others just to really try and give my body all it needed

I did ramp up the protein, pretty much with everything - meat, chicken, lots of fish, shellfish, walnuts, lots of spinach (just as another source of protein, not as the main thing). I also had a (prescribed by my surgeon) massive multi vitamin, and mucho water. Some other vegetables, always tried to keep the balance of protein source / vegetables at 50/50.

Hernanu,

Did you keep this up right until the day before surgery?

I kept it up after the surgery. I wanted to support my body afterwards as well. In some respects, I changed my diet for good.

I will keep it up after the surgery for sure. I know the nurse told me that I needed to stop fish oil two weeks before the surgery.

Due to the effect it has on clotting, I'm sure. I believe it's fine afterwards, but check with your surgeon's office.

Hi Guys, the nurse told me not to go back to my high protein diet straight after surgery, something about healing too quickly? Can you heal TOO quickly? I'd been telling her (proudly, cos it took lots of hard work  see Dan's comment about the see food diet, id also been on that) about the Dukan diet and that I'd lost the magic 10kgs before surgery.  I forgot to ask her why because she went on to tell me that I needed calories and I was just so happy thoughts of ice cream flooded my head.  ;D

Healing too quickly?  yeah that sounds odd, but maybe differential rates of healing with different tissue, casues some weirdness in the joint.  I don't know.

"see food diet"?  Is that like "When I see food, I eat it"   ::)
