« on: November 09, 2012, 12:41:53 AM »
Hey all, i haven't really posted for quite awhile or even been checking the website at all lately due to time restraints however i am here to check in on my 4th anniversary of my simultaneous bi-lateral resurfacing. Yesterday the 7th was the day 4 yrs ago that my life changed radically for the better. Got rid of the pain i was living in,started living life again like a normal person would. Happy to check in and report all is well still and living a very very active life with alot of impact sports. Surfing, windsurfing, snowboarding, ice skating are a few of the things I have been able to resume. This has been a life changing surgery and in all good/great ways for me. I guess the biggest bump in the road for me was finding out that the implants I recieved were the Johnson and Johnson Depuy ASR which happen to have been recalled/stopped production because of a design flaw. I have been monitoring everything with my Doc and so far so good , everything is just fine with my implants and my body. To tell you the truth I am not even all that concerned because the problem rate is about 13 % which leaves 87 % success rate. Anyways just wanted to report that all is well after 4yrs and not slowing down a bit. I hope everyone dealing with hip issuses get them resolved and start living life again.
Pain free and loving it.

That's excellent wayne-0... I agree, even if you have the ASR, the success rate is still very high.

Great to hear, yours were some of the posts that psyched me up when I was getting ready for my first.

Thanks for the post Wayne.  I do believe you were on of the guys here when I first started looking into HR that gave me some inspiration.  Keep up the good work and keep on having fun.  I totally agree, life changing and awesome not being in pain.

That's an awesome way to look at it Wayne! I'm sure I've read that if you reach the 4 year point with no problems then you will most likey never have any issues!

Being able to inspire and pysch you guys up is a great feeling, i had no idea that my posts had that impact at all. I like the 87 % comment and John I got to sail San-0 today again. Looks like tomorrow the weather pattern will gives us some more good wind. Wow 2 days in a row , now thats rare. Actually I windsurfed more this yr then i surfed. Hope all is going well with you all.

Thanks for the report Wayne-O. Great to hear you're doing so much. I'm pretty sure you inspired me during some of my earlier pre-op inquiries here.
All the best.
Cheers

This is the first time I've been on here in a while. I think you had your surgery around the same time as I did. So happy to hear you are doing so well.
