Dog bite!
« on: February 14, 2013, 03:32:20 PM »
So, I'm walking with my girlfriend.  We are just about finishing a 3 mile walk - if felt GREAT!  (11 weeks post op).  We are walking past a guy with two basset hounds, on leashes.  For some reason they attack us - and don't I get bitten on my 'surgical' leg!  Holy Crap!  I've been feeling awesome, enjoying getting back into the exercise routine.  Go for a simple walk and end up in urgent care with 3 puncture wounds on my lower leg and a nice scrape and bruise on my left buttock.  I am on antibiotics and I have reported it to Monroe County Dept of Health, I checked with my surgeon to make sure I don't need to do anything else, and the guy said he would pay my medical bills.

Just a reminder to give dogs a wide berth when you are walking or running.  They are completely unpredictable.  It hurts like heck and today was a good walking day up here in Rochester, NY

Good thing you're on antibiotics.

The only thing that is usually associated with dog bites that could affect the HR is a staph infection; which is well treated with antibiotics.

Yeah, but that doesn't affect HRs so it's not important  :o :o

Ow. I hope the health department has taken the dog for observation.  Some places have laws that the dog should be put down for a biting attack.  Sorry for your trouble.
