Hi Kevin
I don’t know about Dr. Marchand’s numbers and do not know of Dr. Talmo.
The only advice I would give you is that there are 3 really, really experienced hip resurfacing surgeons in NY. Dr. Su at 3000, Dr. Clarke and Dr. Marwin over 1000.
I always suggest you use the most experienced surgeons you can for hip resurfacing. Of course, it is up to you. You want to make sure you will get a resurfacing. Ask the chance of getting one over a THR. Some surgeons will do a bait and switch from resurfacing to THR during surgery. I don’t know if Talmo or Marchand would do that, but I know of others that have done that.
I am going to post the contact info for the NY doctors. I am sorry I don’t know more about the two you are considering. Be sure to ask your surgeon how many hip resurfacing they have done and how many they do now. You want a surgeon that does them all the time, not just a few now and then. The national registries and stats show a surgeon that does a lot frequently has a better retention rate.
