Are supplements safe after surgery
« on: April 27, 2013, 03:07:49 PM »
Hi,

I've been taking glucosamine, chondroitin and avacado soy unsaponifiables(ASU) for over 5 years now but it is time for a new right resurfaced hip.  I will need a left hip and eventually left knee fixed in the future.  I feel these supplements have helped and I don't want to stop taking them.  Does anyone here taken these kinds of supplements after their surgery?  My doctor did not seem to worry as long as take a break (6 weeks) after surgery.  Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Mike

I have taken glucosamine sulfate for a lot of years.  My resurfacing was done over 4 years ago and I still use  it - it helps all my joints.
