As a gunshot survivor, I suffered from partial paralysis that led to the eventual degradation of my right hip. At age 16, I had a major hip reconstruction that left my right foot mostly paralyzed -- this was a very sad and unexpected outcome from what I thought would be my "saving grace." Unfortunately, Hip Resurfacing was not a known or popular option 22 years ago.
I was lucky to come in contact with the surgeon, Sharat Kusuma, through a family member. He welcomed my condition with open arms and strongly suggested the hip resurfacing procedure. At that time I was in immense pain in my lower back and neck, and was also desperately hoping for something to help with strength and my walking gate.
I decided to go for it!
It is now 14 months after the surgery and I am extremely happy with the results.
My lower back pain is mostly gone, through the surgery and PT I walk with much greater confidence, and I feel as though my physical and mental future is much brighter.
I highly suggest this surgery to anyone!
Sincerely,
Chris H
