Hi Hippies!
Just wanted to brag on how well my hip is holding out! I usually go on an extensive horse training "vacation" ( ha, ha! More work than vacation, but a labor of love for sure!) every 2 years. It is near Helena,MT ( I live near Portland, OR) so it also involves a lot of driving ( truck, camper, two-horse trailer). I had to skip in 2010, because of my HR surgery. 2013 was my first year back to it since my hip resurfacing, and I couldn't be happier with the outcome!
The trip involves a LOT of prep and packing. Then, round trip, I spend about 30 + hours driving that big rig ( yes, I drive alone). The program in MT involves taking two of your own horses and receiving instruction on how to ride and train them better. It requires saddle time equal to about 6 hours a day ( and not just walking down a trail, rowdy and fast reining/cow horse type riding!) stall cleaning, feeding, grooming, and a lot of hiking up steep terraine. I was a little nervous to try the new hip on this adventure. It is a real test! I am happy to say it passed with flying colors!!
All my old friends there were happy to see the new me, comfortable and active again.
This new hip has changed my life back to normal!
Stay positive! Lu
