New Eyes on My 2 Resurfaced Hips (2001,2002)
« on: September 20, 2013, 02:00:53 PM »
I had both of my hips resurfaced (Wright, Conserve +) by Dr Michael Mont in Baltimore (Sinai Hospital)- one in 2001 the other in 2002. I've had no trouble with them all this time-- lousy ROM, but no pain and all the walking and Zumba I can do. I had my metals checked last year and they were high-- but in line with normal bilateral, metal-metal hipsters.  I live in Philadelphia and I'd like to see a doctor here who won't roll his eyes at my resurfaced hips and who can give me an honest, knowledgable appraisal of where my hips are at this time-- and can also speak to the elevated metals in my bloodwork. Do any of you have any suggestions?

Hi Cheryl, welcome to the site!

Well, Dr. Mont wouldn't be a bad choice, seeing he did them. I don't see anyone local listed, but one thing you can do is to send your information (xrays, lab results, etc) to some of the surgeons listed on the site who will look at your results for no fee. They are some of the best in the world, so you can get a good accounting of where you stand.

I sent my xrays to Dr De Smet in Belgium, before electing to do my surgery there. I mentioned to him that I had a girlfriend requiring THR on both hips ...and he said by all means, have her send her xrays, he would be happy to look at them and give his professional opinion. I am sure, as mentioned by another hipster, that the other surgeons listed on this site, would be happy to do the same.

I'm only 11 weeks since my surgery, and my ROM is amazing compared to what it was, already. I was at only 10%.

Good Luck.
