Help! I can't sleep!
« on: September 26, 2013, 02:03:26 PM »
I posted this on another forum and then thought it might fit better here.

Hi.  I am 5 weeks post op and  I am having a very difficult time sleeping.  I can't relax, can't get comfortable, toss and turn until the early hours of the morning.  When i finally am able to get to sleep I sleep for a few hours and then wake up.  This is causing other issues such as depression as I try to deal with my constant state of exhaustion as well as feelings of isolation.  Exercise during the day or drugs don't seem to offer any help.  Any ideas to help me get into a more normal/regular sleep pattern?

Kathy:

I used a pillow between my legs and slept on my non-operated side.  Even with that I had difficulty sleeping through the night for the first few weeks.  What worked for me was to alternate between sleeping in bed for a few hours and then moving to a recliner for another 2-3 hours. This allowed me to get enough sleep to have sufficient energy during the day.

I hope this helps.  Keep us posted on your progress.
