Reached another milestone.
« on: November 01, 2013, 06:58:05 AM »
Well I am feeling a bit guilty doing so well when others are reporting setbacks and other complications, but anyway...
According to the Phase II handout your op leg is back to full strength when you can comfortably do 30 leg lifts with a 2lb weight on your ankle. I have done that for the last 5 days and feel like I've reached the goal. I'm 3 1/2 months (not counting weeks any more) post op and I might have been able to do it sooner but was taking it slowly.
My first post on this site was about 4 weeks post op when I couldn't reach down to get my socks on independently and was worried that this would never get any better. Now I barely notice doing it and often forget which was the operated side.
Next milestone is going back to Sunday morning soccer in January / February.

Sounds great! Each milestone is a big deal, even if looking back it seems fairly easy. Keep it up, there's a lot more to go.

Awesome news!! You and I are on the same time frame. I'm up to 30, but havent progressed with the weights yet. I'm waiting until my other hip gets done as I think the muscle imbalances on the unoperated side are impeding me. BUT I am thrilled to hear it's attainable :)

excellent job!

Please tell me it went quickly and those first few weeks are almost a distant memory! ;D  I'm two weeks out and wish I could just get out and rake my leaves!

Great to hear your progress is on the right path.  Don't feel guilty - you worked hard for this so enjoy the moment!

Also glad you can now successfully get your socks on all by yourself... as I sit here sockless! ;)  Glad it's a warm day!

Keep us posted!
