Hi Ann
I am sorry. The program I use can be confusing. You need to go to Hip Talk
http://www.surfacehippy.info/hiptalk/Then click HIP RESURFACING POSTS about 1/3 down the page.
Then you will see this page
http://surfacehippy.info/hiptalk/index.php?board=1.0 where all the
questions and answers have been posted.
If you click on the NEW TOPIC Button - you can post your question. Here is
an illustration of what you would see
http://surfacehippy.info/hiptalk/index.php?topic=10.0I hope that helps.
I have not hear of that particular doctor. There are many new
inexperienced, BHR surgeons. I have many of the more experienced listed
here
http://www.surfacehippy.info/listofdoctors.php and their stats here
http://www.surfacehippy.info/doctorstatistics.phpI am a big believer, after several years of reading about hip resurfacing
and having had my hip resurfaced, that a person should use a very
experienced surgeon. Here is why
http://www.surfacehippy.info/pcselectingsurgeon.phpSome people are quite willing to be the doctor's first of tenth surgery,
but hip resurfacing is much more complicated than a THR. The studies I have
on my website indicate a steep learning curve of 50 - 100 surgeries for a
surgeon to be experienced. My doctor, Dr. De Smet that has done over 2400
hip resurfacings, encourages a person to use a doctor that has done at least
100 hip resurfacings. Hip resurfacing is as much an art as a skill. The
angles and placement of the cap and cup are very important and can lead to a
femur neck fracture or revision if not done properly. The surgical tools
used in the operation are new and there are not as many to help with
placement as with the old fashioned THRs. So a doctor has to be good to get
it right.
I hope that helps some. Please let me know if I can help in any other way.
