Unrelieved Pain 17 months PRP or Botox
« on: May 18, 2014, 01:41:36 PM »
Hi everyone.   I have not posted in a long time as I did not want to sound like a buzz kill.  I had bilateral Resurfacing Dr Gross 11/2012.  I am now 18 months post surgery.  My ROM stinks, my hip flexors are always sore despite 6 months of PT. Whenever I attempt to increase my activity, I pay for it as my psoas locks down.  This hip is set at 30 degrees.  When I came out of surgery, I looked at the placement in disbelief.   Dr Gross says that the angles are perfect and to keep working on it.  He Injected bilateral trochanter bursas and IT band on the 38 degree left leg.  One leg at 30 degrees and the other at 38 degrees. I don't get it.  I have never slacked off on the recovery so t is not under use.  I am going for an MRA MRI to get to the bottom of it.  Has anyone ever had PRP or Botox placed in the hip flexors with any success.  I did get back to work but in extreme pain at times.  Both knees have tracking issues and my back hurts.  I would love to run, play golf, or basketball but I guess that is not in my future.  I wish you all the best and thank you for the site Pat.

I am sorry to hear about your ongoing recovery issues. By all means get a second opinion from another hip specialist to either confirm what Dr. Gross has told you or to reveal another option to help you move forward with your recovery. It appears that you have been diligent in your efforts.

Keep pushing for answers, and don't give up. Stay posted and let the Hippy community help you along.

Good luck to you.

Agree completely with Boomer. You need to talk to other doctors, keep hunting for the reason.

Don't worry about being a downer, not everything works and we'd love to see you in good shape.

Hi Ross

I am sorry to hear you are still having problems.  I understand that you need to find an answer.  I wish I had one, but I don't.  I would keep pursuing to find out what is wrong.  There have been a small amount of people that did continue to have pain and problems for various reasons for a year or two.  I would also get some more input from several other surgeons if your pain gets worse.  I assume Dr. Gross is also trying to solve the problem with you. You do need a solution if possible.

Keep us updated when you can.

I think that the problem originates in the medial part of my inner thigh bilaterally as I can not bring my knee straight up and into my chest if I turn the leg 25 to 30 degrees it will move if not it hits a road block and severe pain continues.  Also, it seems that whenever I attempt to stretch or strengthen the hip flexors they get irritated and lock up.  Any suggestions.  Thanks Ross
