Hi Tesse

Welcome to Hip Talk.

Many people have traveled for their hip resurfacing.  I traveled to Belgium in 2006 since I did not have health insurance.  I considered Dr. Bose since he is an excellent surgeon, but decided I prefered to fly only 8 1/2 hours to Dr. De Smet in Belgium.

Are you considering Dr. Bose?

I have a number of Dr. Bose stories on my Hip Stories  http://www.surfacehippy.info/hipstories.php#Dr._Bose_Hip_Stories_

THe one thing about going overseas is that you have acess to some of the most exprienced hip resurfacing surgeons in the world.

If you have questions, I will try to answer them for you.

Hi Tesse - Are you going to India for the lower cost? Do you have health insurance? There are many excellent surgeons in the US performing hip resurfacing, and you will find many of them listed on this site, to which we owe Pat a great debt of gratitude.

hi
thanks for the response. i am going overseas for the cost because i have kasier and their is only one doctor who does hip reservacing and i have not found his name listed in any profiles. if i had regular insurance their is only one doctor in los angeles who made the profile list and he is anstutz.
i have just found out that i bilateral .dr bose is very conservative and i probably will do the work in two trips . that is also impressive. in this case i think the more conservative the better.
i am also concerned regarding going it alone.but have read on the blog that alot of people do it.

Hi.
I will be leaving on the 16th and will have a 24hr flight from Montana to Chennai.
I am using worldedassit they have been awesome.
My surgery is scheduled for the 20th and I will let you know how it went.
Another guy from my area just got back and we have talked about his travel and surgery thats what gave me the confidence to make the leap not to mention the price.

Tesse

just a brief update.

I am at the Appolo speciality hospital in Chennai.
I travelled 24 plus hrs and was pleased with flights.
The ride from chennai airport to hotel was exactly what they said it would be. Crazy but fun none the less.
My hopital room is deluxe and the food and the staff are very good.
Dr. Bose met with me after dinner last night and explained my surgery and answered my questions.
I want to thank Pat for the support and others that have gone before, so we have information to make a choice and the support from those pioneers that made the long journey's.
i hope I have not hijacked this post.
I hope Tesse will have more info to make the right choice for her surgery.
I will updated after surgery it is 5am and I am going to get some rest.
Iam due for surgery in 5 hrs.

Iwill respond to any questions or PM's

I am glad you arrived safely and are in good hands now.

I know Dr. Bose is great.  Say Hi to him for me.  I have never met him in person, only via email. I do know many others have a think he is a wonderful person.

When you post after your surgery - please start yourself a new topic for your story. You deserve it!

I want to wish you the very best.

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
