swelling at incision after exercise
« on: October 12, 2008, 06:55:28 PM »
After 11 days post-op, the swelling and fluid in my left leg, calf, ankle and foot finally subsided.  After walking 1/2 mile with crutches, my incision area swelled overnight.  Is this to be expected?  I didn't feel any pain while exercising, but I suppose I overdid it.

It's probably not univerasal, but common. If it doesn't hurt, don't use it as an excuse to stop exercising. Listen to you body and keep it iced.

I continued to ice the area after exercise for about a month. It sure helped.

Steve,

Definitely ice for about 20 minutes post exercise. I'm still icing after cycling and I'm 3+ months
post op from 1st surgery and 2 months post op from the 2nd surgery.

Take care,

spencer
