For folks in the Washington, DC area, especially Northern Virginia, I would highly recommend the therapists at the Anderson Orthopaedic Clinic in Arlington and Alexandria. While not the most convenient locations for me, I used AOC because my surgeon, Dr. Andy Engh, is a partner with AOC and I felt that their PT's would best understand my needs as a BHR patient. This proved a wise decision, as my non-operative hip, which was the better of the two, but still in need of surgery, deteriorated rapidly while I was re-habbing my operative hip, to the point that it was interfering with my rehabilitation. My therapist had a "direct line" to Dr. Engh and we were able to move aggressively and schedule the second surgery for a date 3-1/2 months after the first (typically, Dr. Engh likes to wait 6 months before doing the second hip).
My experience is that a good therapist can play a significant and important role in a BHR patient's recovery.
