Jim’s Hip Resurfacing with Dr. Schemitsch 2015
I had my left hip resurfaced December 14, 2015 by Dr. Schemitsch and the Staff at St Mike’s. I’m a 47 year old active male with a lifestyle that included hockey, golf and a 4-6 times a week workout program. Sadly, for me, the two years leading up to the surgery involved a great deal of pain and loss of flexibility and the restricting of activities in my life that I truly enjoyed. I was referred to Dr. Schemitsch and had my initial consultation in April 2015. I was obviously not pleased to be told 12-15 months before the surgery could be scheduled but realized that waiting for expertise is not a bad thing. The move to London obviously worked in my benefit and the surgery was performed in December. I had my 3 month follow up in London this past week and everything looks great according to Dr. Schemitsch and in his words I can “go crazy” and push the flexibility of the joint but a future as a singles tennis champion is not in the cards for me. In regards to the operation and my involvement with Dr. Schemitsch I have nothing but THANKS and PRAISE for him and the staff. Yes, it involved some pain and suffering but nothing compared to pre-surgery. The fact that I can “go crazy” and do it without any pain is a wonderful feeling again and for that I will always be truly grateful to Dr. Schemitsch. He was always available to answer my questions, he made himself available to answer my wife’s questions and most importantly he fixed my bloody hip! To be honest I did not concern myself with anything other than that in dealing with him and the staff at the hospital.
