Hip Resurfacing at Surface Hippy

I had my hip resurfacing done Tuesday at Cleveland Clinic Lutheran Hospital by Dr John McLaughlin. Surgery went smoothly. Home Wednesday. Feeling pretty good but tired. Note I’m a 65 year old male. Still active, and able to do HIIT (with modifications) and running (with walk breaks) before surgery. But my hip impingement let to discomfort sleeping at night, difficulty getting out of car, limp at times when walking. I pushed for resurfacing since I wanted to maintain a (very) active lifestyle as long as I can.

Four days post op from hip resurfacing at Cleveland Clinic Lutheran Hospital by Dr John McLaughlin. Pain is less each day but left (surgical) leg is swollen. Assume this is normal.

Post op photos following hip resurfacing at Cleveland Clinic with Dr John McLaughlin on July 23. Bandage removed after 1 week, approximately a six inch incision. Healing well. Walking outdoors after about 2 weeks. Getting closer to feeling like a normal gait.
Planning to drive myself to a coffee shop this weekend (surgery was left hip). Discharge from home health care next week (3 weeks). Then outpatient PT.

Three month update post BHR on left hip at Cleveland Clinic. I’m able to hike 4 to 5 miles at brisk pace without pain. My issues prior to surgery (getting out of car, sleeping on back without discomfort, occasional limp with walking) are gone. Overall feeling great!
