August 4, 2008 I am on day 11. I had the BHR done by Dr Brooks at the Cleveland Clinic. Today is the first day I feel somewhat human. My pain has been in the front of the thigh with a lot of cramping type pain in the leg. I am only allowed to put 75% of my weight on the leg for 6 weeks after the surgery. I was surprised to hear you say … Read the rest
November 15, 2012 5+ years Post Op
Just wanted to get a quick note out about my 5 year visit with Peter Brooks at the Cleveland Clinic for my Right BHR. I saw Dr. Brooks a week after playing in the Grand Masters and Super Grand Masters Divisions of the Lake Placid Lacrosse Tournament in August. I played 9 games over four days for the third time in the past three years.
In January, I … Read the rest
I’m 51 and have bilateral from Dr. Bose 2010 and 2011.
These are some notes that might help anyone going into the hip repair project. Story starts in 1999, after doing a gym competition, which involved spinning at 150+ RPM for about 7 minutse; to win a track suit (never collected) my hips became very stiff. Ignoring this for a year, did a long triathlon in Japan, with a marathon at the end – reasonable … Read the rest
I had my operation on January 7, 2010 by Dr. Bose and I came back into a whirlwind of work as a Certified Public Accountant in the midst of tax season here in the United States. Since then, as you’ve probably heard the economy has been in the tank and running my business has taken precedence over almost everything else.
I am from North Carolina, USA and had been having pain in my right hip … Read the rest

This details her progress after the right BHR (second hip surgery) done in April 2007.
From : Ms Joan Gunnes:
Ok, I thought you’d enjoy this……I started teaching my yoga class 13 days post op! Yes, I stood with my cane for most of it, but I could do side bends, some forward and backward bending and I did in fact teach the class! And I’ve been at it ever since – taught my first … Read the rest
Joy’s Hip Resurfacing with Dr. Bose 2007
November 12, 2007
I went to India to Apollo Hospital and Dr. Vijay Bose was my surgeon. It turned out my bones were very strong and could take hip resurfacing instead of the hip anthroplasty he had previously suggested. I am on Day 10 post op and things are going fine. I’m still in India- spending time at Fisherman’s Cove Resort before flying back to the States. The … Read the rest
Bill’s Hip Resurfacing with Dr. Bose 2007 I had my left hip resurfaced by Dr. Bose in Chennai in March of 2007. I was a serious athlete earlier in life, playing college basketball and a lot of tennis. I had not played any tennis 3 years prior to the surgery because I just could not move well and the pain was too great.
I am happy to say I am beating guys I was not … Read the rest
Chawl’s hip resurfacing Dr. Bose 7/31/06 Since I love “all things resurfed”, I’m more than happy to respond to folks that I may be able to help. I’m an “older dude” … just turned 51–15 days ago. And, just minutes ago … one of my gifts to myself just arrived in the mail. That would be a set of two, 70.5 lb. (32 kg) Kettlebells from performbetter.com. As I’ve spent lots of money on the … Read the rest

One of my favorite pastimes before my hip pain became too unbearable, was to climb up Amicalola Falls, a steep mountain in North Georgia, USA. All throughout those difficult first few weeks after surgery, I kept dreaming of the day that I would once again be able to climb the 604 steps to the top of my favorite mountain. Well, today was a beautiful, clear crisp day here in Georgia, so I … Read the rest
I have read this site for 2 years leading up to surgery and wanted to come on here and post about my surgery. I had a right BHR done Feb 28, 2012. Dr Robert Barrack of Washington University Orthopedics in St Louis, MO did the surgery.
My progress has been wonderful. Dr Barrack did surgery on Tuesday, sent me home on Wednesday, I was walking with a cane Friday, walked a mile on the track … Read the rest
The first time I noticed any hip pain was in 2004 when I was jogging and had a very sharp pain in my left groin area which only occurred when my left knee was raised to its highest point which didn’t occur on every run and typically when running hard uphill. The pain subsided and would only reoccur periodically during subsequent runs (I would run about 2-3 times per week) so I put off seeing … Read the rest
