When I had my first done with Dr. Gross nearly 13 years ago, there were no options in the NYC area, where I live. In fact, there were very few surgeons doing the procedure in this country. I was part of the original FDA clinical trials, and was one of the first few hundred people to have resurfacing in the USA. My judgment at the time was that Dr. Gross was the best option. I believe I was right, as he has turned out to be one of the preminent resurfacing surgeons in the world.

I am now 19 days out, and doing well. Dr. Marwin and staff at NYU were great, spent two days there, left the hospital with only a cane, and recovery is progressing nicely.
I had my right hip resurfaced in early 2003, and played basketball regularly for at least 10 years thereafter, until my left hip gave out. I’m now 20 days out of a resurfacing of that hip, and fully intend to resume playing basketball again beginning in six months.

I am about 5 weeks out myself, and experiencing quite a bit of soreness (and some pain) still, which is typical for most of us.

I just had my 6 month checkup with Dr. Marwin, and all seems perfect, was given the go ahead to resume running and jumping. I’m looking forward to playing hoops again shortly.
