Hey Pat,
I found my way here, but I need help to post my own entry.
The site looks great :D
I'm still in need of support as this left hip isn't developing the way the right one went.

Here is my question to the group. Has anyone started the arthritis process with just pain at rest, that is relentless, deep and aching.  It is O.A. My x rays always looked so so, even the other hip which was resurf. in 05.  I can walk. I can dance. I can't lie on that hip and it takes hours and heat and percocet to get it to calm down. Once it's calm, I don't feel it until the next morning. This has been continuous for 9 weeks straight.
I'm ready to schedule my other hip.  Anyone? Thoughts?
Thanks!

Hi Charlotte

I moved your post and gave it a different heading - knew you would not mind.

Welcome to Hip Talk.

I had a great deal of pain when I sat or in bed.  Vicoden, Darvoset, Advil, etc would not take the pain away.  My hip hurt when I walked and was active - but the night pain was terrible.  I could not sleep.  My body even kept trying to solve the pain problem by constantly moving my leg. It was not restless leg, but the pain was such that moving the leg seemed to help but only for a very short time.  I get that in my other unoperated hip when I am really active.  It bothers me at night.

So you are not the only person with pain at night.  We all have our own kinds of pain and problems.  For perspecitive patients, pain is not the only indicator of a hip with problems.  Some people have hips in very bad condition and not much pain while others have a great deal of pain and their hips are not in such bad conditions.  The safest way to tell what is really wrong is to have a surgen look at your x-rays.  It is possible to miss the window of opporunity to have a resurfacing if you wait too long and only your x-rays can tell the condition of your hips.  Pain is not the only indicator to listen to.

Have you had any steroid shots into your hip capsule?  I had that and it worked for a few months.  Normally the surgeons won't give you more than 2 of those since they can deteriorate your joint even more quickly than the OA.

Good Luck and stay in touch.
