How long post-op are you requiring analgesics for pain?
I am 3 weeks post-op now after my left hip resurfacing and doing reasonably well but I still require moderate strength pain killers for getting around comfortably.
I am 52 and fluctuate between a stick and independent.

If you're walking without a stick and then causing yourself pain, enough that you need pain killers, I would back off of it a bit, your body is telling you to back off.  Ice down the pain take it a little slower, although it's great you are walking without your sticks.

3 weeks is still VERY early in your re-hab and your femoral neck and acetabulum are still healing.

If you are talking a pain killer like Advil, well I would not worry then, you're doing fine.

Don't push it, don't overdo it and by all means don't do anything that might cause a fall because almost all femoral neck fractures and dislocations happen within the first 6 months post-op.
