Glad to hear you are feeling a little bit better today.  My seoncd day I was so sick, I sent my family away, lol.  I guess everyone is different.  I am sure the nurses will not mind waiting on you, so let them.   You deserve it.  I am sure now that you are going to start recovering rapidly.  You had major surgery afterall.  That heart thing was a bummer, I agree, but they took every precaution and I hope your mind is at ease about that.  I agree, that I couldn't imagine having two done so close together.  I am 24 days post op, and I still couldn't imagine it.   No major surgery is not easy, but I think your going to see very quickly that it is worth it in the end.   Have you been able to eat more today?  I hope you get to enjoy the good food!!!   Everyone heals at a different speed.  Us woman seem to heal faster, lol.  Keep up the good PT work as it will make you stronger.  We are thinking about you and check in again soon.  Hope you sleep well.  Pam

Hey Steve,

My only big question to you is, why did you not use Dr. Gross and just have him use cement?  Dr. Gross usually gives you the option.

I think Mont is a good doctor, but I've heard too many patients complain of pain with him post-op, talk to any Dr. Gross patient, Dr. Gross has a really good pain protocol.  I'm not saying you won't be a bit uncomfortable but you won't have a lot post-op.

Hey everyone,, its been a long few days,, I am in PT Rehab on 5th floor now,, all ivs are gone and started agressive PT today . Dr Mont came up today and said the componets were the Stryer Comet,, will post x-rays soon.. I told him today I am going home to recoup for a while until the right is better than the left to stand on.. Did not know Dr Gross allowed you to have the femoral cemented but I will be honest I had gotten so sick of reading about all this and the different devices I was just ready to have it done and now the worse one is over,, He said the Bone Stock was good on the right and I have been walking on it 22 years,, amazing,, I was not sure he  could even do it but he told me before hand 99 % sure he could.. Feel some better today ,, eating a little better but still not there.. If I stayed for second I would have to have blood as my hemocrit is like 25.6 and I had rather let my body build it,, he said you have my home number call with any questions ,, recoup and if you want to do it within weeks I will make sure I will fit you in and not have to wait..  I told Dr Mont the Atrial Fib knocked some of the fight out of me. Mentally,, he said he understands.. Get home get better and we will go from there..

For now I just want the right on where I can do things and it be strong but I do want the other one done and soon.. I asked him about the C+ and he said not yet approved but I see it was TODAY is that right ?  but again all the hoopla about what is best what is worse who is best who is not was making me crazy..  1 down 1 to go ,,   Got kids that need daddy to have fun with again ,,

Hi Steve,

Yes it is quite a dilemna to choose the best.  I suppose you can mull over that for your opposite side.  Will you opt for another Cormet or consider the Wright Conserve Plus, now that its been approved by the FDA?  I picked Dr. Mont's brain during three chats on this website.  He even called me at home on a Sunday, no less.  I wrestled with the anterior-lateral vs posterior approach.  He even said he could do the posterior approach and install the BHR if that's what I wanted.  Well I went with Dr. Su and the posterior approach and I'd go back to him if I ever need the opposite side done, because of the perfect results, so far.  I'm sure you'll stay with Dr. Mont and the Cormet device for your opposite side.

Steve I have no clue,, I do like the new componet approved yesterday .. I am glad the left side is in great shape so if I have to wait a few months to rethink all this I am not at a loss,,  Its a lot to try to understand what is best what is not.. The anterior laterial I got was really not true anterior laterial or does not seem to be but again I cant see it back there well,, yes its back there,, starts laterial and runs behind the laterial line,, I was thinking anterior meant true front but it does not,, I think as long as a surgeon has put in 500 - 1000 they are good to go but with waiting this long I did want one that had over 1500.. again it was a lot to think about then the way they are attached and such .. I just wanted for the right one to get better.. I was put on crutches today and sunday I am flying home,,. Cant wait but while here I want to get it as good as I can get it and learn everything I can about making it strong, the bone strong and the range of motion the best I can get it to be,, Now when I say left is in great shape I mean it was not bad like the right but still I cant do the range of motion things in the left either.. I wanted the both good and live life,,

Thanks

WOW  last two days have been wonderful.. Still in Pt on their floor. stiffness in hip but doing a lot,, getting up and around good,, they even gave me clearance today to get as much and do what I want on my own,, Hosp thing.. Things are still stiff in the joint but in PT with guy that had them both and I am right on trace... Walking with crutches set me free,, that walker was not user friendly.. Now get home get this one in great shape and do my homework on getting next one in and what componet and WHO will do it,,

ITS A SHAME WE CANT ALL AGREE ON WHAT DOCTOR OR SET OF 3 IN THE COUNTRY ARE WOKING BEST AND WHAT COMPONET SEEMS TO BE THE BEST... THAT WOULD ELIMINATE SOME MENTAL ANGUISH IS TRYING TO GET THIS SET UP AND DONE,,

So glad the right one is over and getting stronger and better with each morning ,,

I read where the new C + Doctors will have to be trained to put it in ,, I think Mont was on the team to get it approved not sure,, Pat was he and what other doctors helped with the pre-trail implants ?

Hope all is well.
