Greetings all...

Just thought i'd update a little (thanks woodstock for the encouragement).  First off I'd like to thank Vicky Marlow for helping in so many ways I can't begin to thank her.  Vicky sent my stuff off to Dr. Su and Dr. Rodgerson.  Both said I was a tough case but upon going there and meeting them, I would be a good candadite for BHR.  Dr. Su feels that the current Xray technology doesn't tell the entire story and in his view there is probably more disease going on than is seen.  Dr. Rodgerson stated a hip injection could be a diagnostic tool that would be a definitive tool in seeing if I would be a good candadite.  So those are two very respected surgeons.  A good friend of mine whose an Orthopedic says you probably won't get a definite YES anyways since I am young and what not.  So thats encouraging.  I see the two othro's who want to do the proceedure this thursday.  I have a appointment to see Dr. Rodgerson on Jan. 25, so thats a little frustrating.  I have a scheduled HIP injection for thursday as well.  Hopefully that will give me some comfort instead of taking pain meds.  So there is an end in sight.  I have researched the topic exhaustively so it seems the biggest concern for me is putting in the implant.  According to much of what I read, Surgeon error is the reason the implant fails..not the device.  I also was wondering if they put the implant in differently for athletes??? can't find any info on that so i'll ask the surgeon.  Thanks all for the support.:) happy holidays.

In terms of how the implement is placed, inclination angle of the cup is very important.  If the angle is too steep than failure can occur (it is the surgeon who places the cup of course). It is really not that anything is placed differently for an athlete vs. a non-athlete.  A skilled and experienced surgeon will get it right! Good luck to you.  I had surgery two weeks ago today and am doing very well.  It is truly a gift to be pain free.
Right hip resurfacing with Dr. Gross on 12/5/11!

I can tell you that Dr. Su is one of, if not the best IMHO.   I am so glad I went to him!!!
