Day 3..Discharged.  Well after some INCREDIBLE swelling last night, I was released to race the reported weather home.  I let my ice pack lapse and so both my thighs, which were already swollen from the surgery got really swollen with no ice...needless to say my incisions were killing me.  At 3 am I called the nurse in for ice and hit my Pain Control button every 8 mins as soon as I heard it reload..on top of some Norco and Toradol in my IV...that got my pain under control.  Then I reloaded up on ice..Walt Disney's got nothing me...When we finally got up, it was ALL about gettin the heck out of there...Drive back to KZOO toward the impending weather.
Everything went super smooth.  Mike, Dr Schmitt's PA was in my room at 8 sharp.  Transport came to take me to my last PT/OT session with Lisa and Chris and then back to the room for Breakfast while Mrs Fuzzy Packed.  We were out and on the road by 11am and that is where we are now as I speak...type.  Here is is my first Bilat Schmitty Hippie Photo...time to get my life back.  WOOO HOOOO!!!

Yea, make ice your new best friend.  Having your thigh feel like a sausage is not fun.

Way to go, Fuzz!

Excellent photo and welcome to the exclusive Schmitty Hippy Club.  I'm so thrilled for you and Mrs. Fuzzy!!

KZoo is a great town, and you two will have a lot of fun this summer.  I'm hoping this summer that we will all feel so well that we could do a Schmitty Cookout or meet up for a centrally located dinner out.  I'm keeping in touch with my fellow Schmitties, and I continue to be amazed at how well everyone is recovering, I'm thrilled hearing the stories of veteran Schmitties who several years later are tooling around and feeling great, and it's so nice to have a place like Surface Hippy where we can be on our recovery path together!

I think in general way too much time in life is spent reinventing the wheel, and it's great to have a fantastic resource like this at our literal fingertips.  Fuzz, you are the bilateral bionic man!

Great picture!  You will keep smiling as you continue to recover and really begin to realize the pain is gone!  Good luck!

I like how square you are standing, the mark of a new hippie and the smile says it all.

Congratulations!  That is one optimistic, positive attitude smile.

I agree that you need to use plenty of ice.  I think that is one reason that I didn't need as much pain med as some others.

Best wishes as you recover and then rehabilitate.

Great picture!  Was that on the way out of the hospital?

How's it going at home?

I'll echo Woodstock - how's it going at home?  Loved the hat, keep the faith today.

HA!  That line is great!  A cryogenically frozen reference is right up my Sci Fi meets reality alley.  Of course, as a blonde nerd, it took a second reading of your post to catch the joke, and it also took some time for me to sound out the words.

Mr. 8Ball, please give my best to Mrs. 8Ball, and Hubs says he knows what she's in for!  ;)
