Hi Folks,
I have been on this great forum a few time already and your feedback is very much appreciated.

I'm a 36 yr old male who had BLHR 8 weeks ago now.

All is going extremely well thank goodness apart from my hip flexor which is still not getting past the 60/65 degree mark when trying to bring knee to chest whilst standing still.

My surgeon pointed out (at the 6 week check up) that this was very poor and although I'm getting PT 5 days per week the last 2 weeks I don't seem to have progressed much further.  Maybe to 65 degrees.  I get, only what I can describe as, a knitting needle being poked into my groin and buttock area kind of pain when I get to the 65 degree mark.  Once leg goes below this the pain goes away immediately.

Anyway to get a long story short my surgeon who is quite an experience resurfacing surgeon in Ireland has tod me if the flexibilty does not get any better in the next 4 weeks (which brings me to the 3 month mark!) that he will put me under GA in order to manipulate the hip.  Medically known as MUA but to me and you they basically bend the crap out of your leg and hip to get flexibilty into it!!!  Just to note he has never had to do this before with any resurfacing so I hope I'm not his first.  I had the same pain pre-op and I thought this BHR was going to sort out that problem and allow me to bend down and tie my shoe lace for the first time in 15 years.  Not to be.

I'm still unable to drive a manual car at 8 weeks because of this problem and getting socks and shoes on is a struggle even sitting down.

Apart from all that (and a few clicks here and there!!) I feel great  :)

Anyone ever expreienced MUA for a hip resurfacing?  If so was there an improvement, any probs, etc, etc
