Hi Bill,

Wonderful news.  I am very happy that you are able to return to yoga, you have given me yet another thing to look forward to.  I am so happy to hear that you are communitng with the bike, I do that also, however my ride is only 3 miles and I am on a cruiser.  Are you able to use toe clips now?

Keep up with the exercise and the stretching and the back will heal itself.  Fingers Crossed.  Are you working on your abs, to get the core stronger?

Hi, Lori,
I'm able to use clipless pedals on road bike just fine - actually more confident with those than the toe clips/straps on my mountain bike. Haven't done yoga in several years, and it would be a lot of fun to watch me when I do return as I have the grace and flexility of an elephant right now. I need to find individual/small class setting that I can afford so I can work back into verrrrrryyyy slowly. And while I need to focus on overall strength, balance, ROM/flexibility, endurance, weight loss, etc., I am integrating more core work too. I like the Core Performance program/book and so now that I'm cleared for even more activity, I'll come back to that a bit more in earnest. Wish I could bag work and focus on rehab full time - I need an 8-hour day just to fit all that in!

I totally now what you mean about the full time job for recovery.  It is so hard to get in all the exercise that I feel like I need.  I am going to the pool in the morning to swim or walk, then walking for breaks, and trying to ride my bike back to work after lunch.  It is impossible to do it all.  I want to walk, bike and swim 3x more than what I am able to do because of the call of duty.
I lost my 10 pounds by swimming, and it really built up my core.  I need to get on my Total Gym and my Pilates machine, just hard to find the time.
What are you doing this weekend?  We have Strawberry Days in Glenwood, so we are going to the parade and carnival.  I am just thrilled that I can go on my own.

Just kidding but it sounds like you guys are doing great.  Back in the day when I was doing triathlons I felt like I couldn't train enough.  Hopefully I will be getting that feeling back.

@DGossack, thanks and remember, patience, it WILL come back. But then again, we generally are not patient patients now are we?

@lori.36, wow - sounds like you're doing great. As I"ve mentioned, the back is holding me back a bit, but still. Impressive. Just got done with a leisurely 20-mile ride along the Platte River Trail from the REI flagship store in downtown Denver. Farthest distance to date! We're heading over to some friends' house this afternoon, her father is here from Hawaii and they're having a thing. After that we may head over to the Highlands Street Fair - more walking! To paraphrase the S&N commercial, it definitely feels like I've got my go back! Have a good one.
