Wendy

I am 14months post RBHR and was doing great till a couple of weeks ago.  I started with some groin pain intermittently, increasing with ambulation. They had me come in for x-rays and said that everything looked great.  (My surgeon Dr. Barrack told me that women and small women are more prone to femerol fracture's than men) They told me to stop running and squating for a while ice and take Ibuprofen.  So I did and things seemed to get somewhat better.  A  week ago I started back on the eliptical and just upper body exercises and started back with the groin pain.  It has gotten worse and at times I turn or get up and it feels like a stabbing pain that I am afraid to walk like prior to surgery when it would get locked up.  At  times it feels fine and others the pain comes back and increases with walking and putting all my weight on the surgical leg.  I was wondering if anyone out there has anything similar?  Also if there is anything you did to help the situation.  My surgeon when I went in just told me it was soft tissue and to rest it.  I have placed a call to the office.
Would appreciate any info

Wendy

Hi Wendy

I am sorry to hear about the pain you are experiencing.

Many people have groin pain and problems, I started a page about it here   http://www.surfacehippy.info/groinpain.php

Sometimes the cup placement will cause problems if it is perfect.  I am not medically trained and could not tell, but just passing information along to you.

Hopefully Dr. Barrack can guide you with some more PT to solve the problem.

If you had a loose cup or fracture - you would be in terrible, terrible pain that would hardly stop.  Normally it is not intermittent, but again, that is only from what I have read.

I can only offer the info from my groin pain page for you since I haven't experienced the problem - but many have.

If you don't get enough responses on Hip Talk, you might also want to consider joining the Yahoo Surface Hippy Discussion Group  http://groups.yahoo.com/group/surfacehippy/
There are over 7000 memebers there and only 460 members here.  This is a great group and growing, but sometimes you need to post on the other group if you are looking for more answers and support.  I hope Hip Talk will some day be as large.

I hope you can find a solution to your problem.  Good Luck.
