RLS
Restless Leg Syndrome. Thats where no matter how hard you try you can't keep your legs still ?  It makes it impossible to sleep and has been keeping me up alot the past 6 months or so. Anyone else ever have this ?  Once it starts for me the only way I can get back to sleep is to take a vicodin and sit in the hot tub for awhile, then maybe I can fall back asleep. Just curious if any of you have experienced this and if so how do you make it stop ? Thanks, Bill

Lopsided

I used to get this. Not often, but bloody annoying when you get it. Used to get up, eat some food and watch the television for a few hours, and then see if I could get to sleep. And then feel shagged the next day.

I have not had it once since resurfacing. I think it is because my leg is free to flop around now rather than being locked in one direction.

Which leg do you get it in Bill? If it is your leg without the resurfacing, perhaps you are losing movement in that leg.

Hi B.I.L.L.

I get a light case of it now and then.  Mine seems more associated with the muscles and really nothing to do with the hip.  I take a couple tramadol and eventually get back to sleep.  They have special meds for restless leg syn.  Why don't you ask your doctor about it.  It is a reall 'bugger' when you can't sleep at night - I spend many restless hours thinking about it  ;D  LOL  I hate to tell you, but it gets worse as you get older   :(

No restless leg syndrome here.  It sounds like a pain.

I hope you find a solution that works for you.

Hey Pat thats ok, everything in my body seems to get worse as I get older ;D. It doesn't happen everynight, but more often than not, and usually in both legs. I don't think it has anything to do with my hip, unless the stress it's causing has anything to do with it, theres absolutley no shortage of stress around here lately. Just curious to see if you guys had any secret concauctions to remedy it. I stopped taking vitamins awhile back because I was told that could affect the ion tests, but it was happening before that. Also researched it some awhile back and they said taking magnesium would help, I tried it and didn't notice a change. I can feel a change in my energy level without the vitamins, don't know if thats in my head or not, or just from lack of sleep. I'll start taking them again once I get this high ion/revision deal sorted out, meanwhile I need those tests to be accurate as possible. Thanks  8)

Hi Bill,

I seem to get it when I am really tired and worn out. It is in the muscles of my legs...so my sweet husband massages my legs and that seems to relax me enough to fall asleep. I hope you find some relief soon!

Oh my, you've got the "jimmy legs"...
I too have had it on occasion.  It seems to happen more when overstressed or overtired.
I take a little bit of Melatonin...1-2mg and it seems to relax me and puts me back to sleep.

My wife and her mom get it and fairly often. They use a prescription med, can't remember the name.  I get it very occasionally, but there is a particular chair in our house that seems to cause it for me, which seems to me, to be more of a nerve pinch issue.  My wife can't tie hers to anything.  I've read stuff that ties it to a mineral deficit.  Pretty vague, sorry.

I read that taking magnesium helps, I tried it and didn't notice any difference. It's not from a shortage of cobalt or chromium, this we know, haha  ;D

Hi B.I.L.L.,

There are some meds that sometimes help. The one that is marketed for RLS is called Requip in the US. Another drug that seems to help is gabapentin/neurontin. When I get it I try turning on my side and sometimes that helps and sometimes I have to just get up and move around and then try going back to sleep again.

Right now it feels like it is muscle related and it happens only occasionally but it really ruins my sleep.

Hope you find a solution.
