Ok guys i'm new here but 2 years down the road i have just run a 5k in 20.47 minutes at my local gym with no pain or discomfort!
I run an under 10 football team which i love and enjoy and my new hip resurface has let me do this without reservation!
I play squash again and won my first game back after 2 and a half years 3-2 haha

After my op i was swimming in 2 weeks light jogging in 6 weeks and sprinting in 10 weeks so if you have any doubts about this operation please look and see the results because before this i could not run properly had trouble sleeping and was rather grumpy!

Good luck to all

Thanks for the encourgament.  I like hearing how things are for folks ahead if me.  I'll do the same in about 1.5 to 2 years.  Looking forward to playing soccer again and it's nice to hear that folks are doing that with HR.

Congratulations,  I'm looking forward to running again.  I ran for almost 30 years until arthritis in my right hip stopped me.  I'm hoping to have surgery soon, then I'll be chasing you down the road!

Thanks for the motivation.

Great timing on your encouragement.   I will have my surgery this coming Monday morning.  Then hopefully I will be back to exercising as soon as you.

Hi Ian.
I am very encouraged by you saying you were running at 6 weeks. I had hoped to resume my favourite sport, caving, at 3 months. Maybe I can move this forward a bit. An easy cave is no worse than a light jog and my progress so far is very good.
As a Yorkshireman maybe you are familiar with caving?
Any other cavers out there with new hips?

couge100

Great that you have a goal but i'd take it one step at a time. I'ts ok running in a straight line etc but i found when i had to reach over ie into the passenger footwell of the car i would get a twinge in my groin for a few months as it takes time to repair the muscle.
I'm so glad to inspire other people to have this operation as it has really given me a new lease of life!!!

Good Luck to you!!

Groundhog - I missed the caving question a few days ago.  I'm not much of a caver.  We mostly have lava tubes here in Oregon.  There's a little limestone in the southern parts.  I'm more of rock climber and really want to get back into it, mostly bouldering.  The only "real" caving I've done is climbing into the back of the truck with a canopy on top and kneeling a bunch.  That was one of the worst pains I used to get before HR.  I think when I kneeled I was somehow causing bone on bone pain.  It was really bad.  Then I decided to redo a hardwood floor.  That was a long couple weeks.
