Sciatic pain or hip pain?

For years, my left hip has given me more grief than my right. Much less ROM and more intense pain. On x-ray, both appear to be bone on bone at the superior junction of the acetabulum and femoral head.

I'm scheduled for HR in late January on the left side. Recently, I've developed a literal "pain the butt' on my right side. It's similar to pain on the left... but different in one significant way: it feels like a deep muscle strain that greatly intensifies with a cough or sneeze. Just a casual search of such symptoms suggests sciatic pain. But could it just be the symptoms of advanced osteoarthritis in my right hip is far different from the left?

The concern in all this, is that if it is sciatic pain... could I be in trouble when I have the HR on the left and have to rely more heavily on my right side?

My hip manifested itself in intense, deep pain and frequent spasms in the piriformis muscles at the bottom of the butt cheek.  It was caused by the inflammation in the joint that irritated that area and fired the muscles usually when I walked.  Very annoying and got worse as time went on.  Shots and ibuprofen did little to help it.  I think they can eliminate the sciatica with a lower back xray.  Hang in there.
