Managed to watch the entire surgical procedure for a BHR resurfacing on McMinn website today. It's amazing stuff. Makes me respect what these Surgeons do even more. Also made me comprehend what my body's been through. Incredible viewing if you can bring yourself to watch it.
Wouldn't recommend it pre-op - I only watched 'part 1' pre-op. There are 5 parts in total on utube. Links via McMinn website.
It's not for everyone!

I watched every single op video I could find before my op I really wanted to gain as much insite as I could. Also I've now taken a real interest in the subject.

My hat off to anyone who has been through this and can watch those videos!!!

I waited 4 weeks before even reading about the actual procedure and that was more than enough for me: "rotate the leg and foot 180 degrees inward to perform the surgical dislocation", omg.  Really?  Maybe too close to home.

My otherwise intense scientific curiosity and amazement of what the docs can do, and formal skeletal (no flesh on bones) biomechanics coursework, and hands-on experience excavating human skeletal remains were superseded over by a long-standing flesh-on-bone-and-blood squeamishness that was somehow worsened by this experience.
