hey guys,

I have just had my LBHR on 6/18/12.  Before my nagging hip pains I used to snowboard about 30 times or so per season in Michigan, and would make one "real mountain" trip west if I could afford it.  I have been snowboarding for about 9 years now and am thinking about how it will be when I finally get to strap the board to my feet again.  I noticed that many people on here talk about skiing and have not come across many boarders looking through posts.  So my questions are.... How many of you hippies are snowboarding?  How did it feel when you got back on?  Was it painful to twist as you carved?  If you do any tricks, do you feel limited now?  I used to do a lot of manuals, nosebutters, and little 180's to go back and forth from reg to switch.  It does pull a lot on the hip joint to do this tho.  Any problems with that pulling feeling?

I know I am really early in recovery and this stuff will be a long way off, but im bored and am curious to hear about the experiences you guys have already gone through.

Thanks - Dustin

Hey Dustin go to the skiing snowboarding section and check out those posts. I went riding 4 and 1/2 months post op and i felt like i was 18 again. Really not bad considering i am now 50. Anyways when i ride there is no pain and i feel like i push it pretty hard on the slopes when I go. You will be stoked to get up there again. Trust me. You will also know how hard to push yourself. I never was a big trick guy but I do jump and do boxes with no worries. It's just that I kinda like  surfing the mountain rather than skating it.
