For those who aren't aware, i'm currently under the care of Mr Treacy, although he himself can't fix my dysplasia, he is looking into other care for me and back in October he sent me for an up to date MRI scan of my hips as this hadn't been done for 18 months!

I was told that to save the travel for me, he would write to me with the results as he expected the results to come back fairly normal. However I recieve a letter from the ROH with an appointment to see him personally.

I'm now very worried. What has he found?? I'm thinking the worst thinking he's seen something quite sinister and wants to tell me in person rather than in a letter.

My appointment is about a month from now :( I'm all alone in the house and very tearful. I'm an anxious person anyway, but I really wasn't expecting this.

Ruby keep your chin up. I think that he is away teaching at the moment that's why your appointment is in around a month. I would have thought if it were a really serious problem that there would be a mechanism in place so that you would be seen by one of the other fantastic surgeons at the ROH. I know how hard it is to stay positive but it is important.
You are in my thoughts and prayers.

he probably wants to see you in person to explain and answer any questions
better that than a letter or phone call
be patient he is worth the journey in my view and at least you can trust his opinion
good luck

Ruby, I'm with Danny and marcus. If something was seriously wrong, they would contact you immediately instead of waiting.

Cheers Danny! Something NEEDS to be done. It comes to something when 80mg of Opium a day do NOTHING for my pain  :o

I'll be honest if your on oxycontin then i was on way way more than that after my discharge from hospital and they did zip!!! I think the NHS might have purchased fakes as on the dose i was on i should have been in fairy land but they just did nothing. So that could just be a case of the wrong pain killer for you. But you are right something needs to be done you cant live on pain meds for the rest of your life.

I feel like I should be flying high as a kite on these, but nothing. I don't even feel tired or woozy. I'm on Targinact, another name for Oxycodone I think.... My GP said these were quite potent, so either I'm immune to pain killers or these are a dodgy batch.

The only thing that worked was Morphine. I had three shots of that when i came out of surgery after my arthroscopy and it was heaven!

You just described my own experience! the only thing that worked for me was morphine! They kept telling me that the oxycodine were twice as strong as morphine but for me they were useless!! Tramadol worked far better then oxy for me!

Ah yes, been on Tramadol too, but that didn't work for me. Co-codomol 30/500 worked for a bit, but gradually that stopped working aswell. My body seems to reject pain medicine lol.

Worrying won't help a thing either way.  Perhaps, he has found a solution for your problem and wants to discuss it with you personally. Doesn't mean bad news because he wants to see you.  I have also found doctors tell you things like he will call you and forget what they said, so the office does the normal thing such as scheduling an appointment.  May not mean a thing at all. Besides, it is always best to talk to surgeons in person when possible.  Better for asking questions and getting answers.  Remember, Mr. Traecy is one of the best hip resurfaicng and THR surgeons in the world.  Feel honored to be able to talk with him one on one again.

Try to keep positive. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers, too.

Bad day today.

I was at work, which involves climbing ladders to some extent, and I was about half way up, when I had a huge groin pain and my hip gave way, and I ended up on the concrete floor with a thud, unfortunately on my bad side.

An ambulance was called, I was taken to hospital for xray's which are thankfully fine, i'm just left with stiffness and a sore bum!

When is this going to end?!!

I am very sorry to hear about your fall.  Unfortunately, the swelling and bruising will probably get a bit worse before it gets better. Hopefully, you will feel better in a few days. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry to hear that.  Please stay off ladders and unstable footing for awhile.

Sending lots of healing energy your way.

Best wishes.

Thanks guys, certainly been a hellish 24 hours!

I just don't know what more I can do to myself. What more needs to happen before someone does something. I'm 31, was once a very active, sociable young woman. This is just crazy.
