I think I saw a post that indicated the femoral head was the weakest 3 months post op.  Is this true, and if so, do you know why?  How long does this weak period last?

I'm not sure that its at it's weakest at 3months I think that's it's the time when most femoral neck fractures happen. The neck fractures apparently can be building up over the preivious weeks and months before that actually happen. It does however take atleast 12 months for the bone density to normalise hence why most top surgeons tell you to wait a year before resuming high impact activity.

Dr. Mont's answer tonight:

[Dr. Mont] 8:04 pm: Never heard of three month business----problems typically occur within first 12 weeks, but necessarily at three months
