I am an athletic 53 year-old man who had bilateral hip resurfacing surgery in March of 2011 to deal with my increasingly severe osteoarthritis in my hips.  My implants are Stryker/Corin Cormet MoM.  In general I am very happy with my recovery.  I had no complications post-op and during PT.  At the one year mark I was back playing all the sports I enjoyed prior to the surgery â€" in particular tennis, squash and skiing.  I made the choice to stop running as a regular form of exercise, however in order to maximize my ability to play the other sports.

Recently I started experiencing a dull, growing pain in my left hip after 30 minutes of squash.  I don’t typically experience this pain in the right hip.  The pain becomes intense enough that it limits my mobility to the point that I have to stop playing.  The pain fades away quickly once I stop playing, and I am able to resume normal athletic activity the next day.

I am planning to talk to my surgeon about the situation, but wanted to see if any of you HR athletes have experienced something similar, and what insights you have regarding what might be going on.  It may be the case that I have pushed the boundaries too far in regards to my ongoing participation in relatively high-impact sports.  However, I also have also read the stories of HR athletes who are back out running marathons!  I am discouraged that I may be starting to regress in terms of the level of athletic activity I can handle.
Any feedback is much appreciated!
