Dr. Iqbal Anwar in West Los Angeles?

Hi All,

I'm with Kaiser and have been referred to Dr. Iqbal Anwar, who works out of the Kaiser facility in West Los Angeles. My orthopedic specialist says that Dr. Anwar "uses the best implant" for HR's. I should be meeting with him in a week or two, but I'd like to know if anyone has any info about him they can share with me. Thank you!

Welcome to this amazing resource!  I don't know anything about the surgeon in question, but with a couple of weeks to glean all you can from this site...you'll go into your meeting sounding like a pretty savvy customer.  Ask lots of informed questions and if you don't feel comfortable with him...look elsewhere!

I don't know about the surgeon you mention, but Dr. Klug is part of Kaiser and one of the more experienced hip resurfacing surgeons.  He has a lot of happy hip resurfacing patients.  I would look into seeing him if possible.

It is always best to try to use surgeons that do a lot of hip resurfacings.

Thank you for the info and warm welcome!

I'm scheduled to see Dr. Anwar in late May (the soonest appointment I could get) but by that time I'll have an arsenal of questions to barrage him with. 

I'd actually been lurking here for awhile before registering and took note of the list of experienced hip resurfacing surgeons; as a result I contacted  Dr. Klug (pronounced Kloog, BTW) and spoke with his assistant. If I'm not comfortable with Dr. Anwar I'll certainly consider Dr. Klug, even given the long-distance commute.

I plan to learn as much as I can about the BHR before I make up my mind if that's the route I'm going.  It looks like I'll be sticking around here for awhile. :)

Don't let geography be much of a criteria...I flew from Alaska to San Francisco for my procedure and, as you're probably aware, many here have traveled internationally for theirs.  Hopefully Dr. Anwar will work out for you!
