Sounds really good, steve - keep it up, the swelling will go down and you'll see a lot of improvement.

Just an update folks, going well so far, still can't bend my knee fully, still have some swelling, brusing going down now also had first shower yesterday which was a bit of a challenge getting in as its over the bath. Down to one stick around the house, when did you go to no sticks at all. I have been told no restrictions full weight bearing but I think its a confidence thing, feel a little worried to try.

I went no walking aids when I got the first checkup with the Dr. Su.So it was almost a full 4 weeks.  When I get tired I do still have a slight limp, but when I'm fresh I walk great.  Still have some aches and pains here and there but nothing that really hurts.  I'm able to tie my shoes and put my socks on again without too much discomfort.....have not been able to do that for a long time!  It only gets better as each day passes and some major accomplishments can happen overnight.....it's weird that way.  Good luck in your recovery!  Keep icing and you'll be walking without aids in no time at all.

Hey Steve - I had no restrictions as well and was full weight bearing on both sides. I also took about 4-5 weeks on both sides to walk without aids.

Full weight bearing to me just meant still using aids (crutch until then) just that in my walking there was no restriction on how much weight the joint could hold. The muscles still needed the aid for a while.

Sorry Danny not been on here for few days. Was back at roh yesterday didn't see the man but they seem happy. My knee is bending better now, still on one stick so they gonna send me to physio as they said I have some muscle wastage due to my limp per op. I reckon another week or two and I'll be off the last stick, bad news is they wanna do my other hip, not this year I told them no chance lol.

Unfortunately on the NHS for routine check ups I don't think Mr Treacy has the time. Sounds like your progressing well tho mate.

Had a good few days, one thing Im pleased about is putting on my trousers standing up, it's been months since I could do that. Walking round the house with no stick feels weird but gonna stick at it still a few muscles not quite working, forgot this morning and walked up the stairs normal got half way up and thought I'm not holding the hand rail lol.
Hoping to get back to work in 4 weeks, it's stacking up so hopefully I'm be ok

Good going steve! You'll find yourself doing that a lot - doing something and then realizing .... HUH? how long has it been since I did X?
