Ok, quick update. I know no one is waiting with baited breathe to hear the latest, but thought it might help someone else down the road when they stop taking the meds.
Holding off on refilling the Celebrex prescript again. Afraid that if I keep taking, at about 4 months post op now, my body will become dependent on it. Rather have some discomfort and let the body adjust.
Getting in two walks a day, at least one good aggressive one...which has included a very slow jog for about a block or two, total probably between 3 and 4 miles. Feels good overall, feel the first couple of steps after sitting now that I've stopped the anti inflam, but I think that can get better.

Can't wait (and probably won't) for six months so I can start running. Will probably move to eliptical to push it a little more...that doesn't count as running, right?

Hope all are well and recovering quickly...see you all at the next hippy jamboree...jb

Hey jb, my breath was bated...  ;)

We all take different paths to get there, glad that you're getting off the meds, and it sounds like your walks are doing well. As you can see from the discussion, it really does help, so keep reporting.

I've put a prescription in at the GP's today for some more Dihydracodiene. They were a regular painkiller of mine pre-surgery so hopefully should have no problems in getting a repeat. I'd like the Oxynorm as they're wonderful but I doubt I'd get those LOL!

I was going to try and go cold turkey with the meds. Lord knows I don't want to be stuck on them, but I don't want to be in pain if I don't have to be either. x

Ruby, be kind to yourself - you are still early in the game, use what you need. Talk it over with your surgeon, see what they think, the recovery is the thing and anything that slows it down is to be avoided.

I understand not wanting to become dependent, so talk it over and see when a good time to scale it down is. I was on extra strength tylenol for a while for pain, stepped it down at about 4 weeks, stopped using it altogether at about six. So you're still early, just keep in good touch with your medical folks that you trust about it.

Whoa Ruby. Looks like you just had yours done. No way go cold turkey.
Didn't have a lot of pain after first week or so with this surgery, but I'm a big believer in pain meds from previous "events".
Here is my unsolicited unprofessional unmedical advice...use them as needed, start cutting them back as pain allows. Throw a cocktail in with half a pain pill and let the fun begin.
Keep moving that hip and it will loosen up/feel better...a little muscle pain can be dealt with, yes?

Good luck and happy/hippy healing....jb
